Huskies Complete Successful Weekend At Gonzaga
April 18, 2015 | Men's Rowing
SPOKANE, Wash. - UW men's crew sent its fourth varsity, second freshman and combination eights to scrimmage Gonzaga at Silverlake on Saturday, April 18.
"This weekend's practice really showed the depth of out team and the ability of the entire group," UW men's crew assistant coach Max Weaver said. "We pride ourselves on a strong team culture and the guys did a great job representing Washington well. It was a really good experience to get another opportunity for our group to travel and to take care of the little things, understanding that this was a business trip."
The Huskies were scheduled to row three 1500 meter pieces in the morning and four 500 meter pieces in the afternoon, but had to adapt due to high winds.
"We had some challenging conditions and had to make changes, and our guys handled the situation really well today," Weaver said.
UW men's crew now turns its focus to the upcoming Cal dual on Saturday, April 25, which will pit the two top-ranked teams in the country against each other in men's collegiate rowing's premier rivalry. Dating back to 1903, the Huskies and Bears have met 104 times and UW holds a 74-29-1.
The Cal dual will begin at 9 a.m. along the Montlake Cut in Seattle where fans can watch, free of charge. The dual will be streamed live and results will be posted immediately.
