
Second Day At USTA/ITA Regionals Finishes Up

SEATTLE – Day two of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships came to a close Friday evening, with singles and doubles play taking place.
For Washington, the day began with singles as Sebastian Hawken fell to UC Davis' Alec Adamson 6-2, 6-4. Piers Foley and Kawika Lam also dropped their matches, with Foley falling to Mike Pervolarakis of Portland 7-5, 6-3 and Lam to Michael Genender of Stanford 6-4, 6-4.
Gal Hakak advanced to the next round of singles, defeating Matt Alderson of Seattle 6-3, 6-0, while Rishabh Raman fell to Simon Stevens or Oregon 6-2, 6-4. Joao Barra fell to Sem Verbeek of Pacific in a tough three-setter 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Three more Huskies advanced in singles including Enzo Sommer who defeated Manuel De Luis Lamales of St. Mary's College 6-3, 6-2. Mitch Stewart also advanced, defeating Gonzaga's Ronzai Saurombe 6-1, 6-1. To finish up today's singles matches, Jake Douglas defeated Nathan Boniel of Portland State 6-1, 6-4.
Doubles play for the Huskies began with Lam and Wendell Watanabe facing David Wilczynski and Trey Strobel of Stanford, as the Dawgs fell 8-3. Four Husky duos took to the courts to close out the night, with the first to finish being Barra and Stewart, as they fell to Kasparas Zemaitelis and Mikus Losbergs of Sacramento St. 8-4.
Raman and Sommer defeated Thomas Takemoto and Woravin Kumthonkittikul of San Francisco 8-5, while Hakak and Hawken fell to Filip Bergevi and J.T. Nishimura of California 8-3. Douglas and Foley closed out the night falling 8-6 to Bryce McKelvie and Everett Maltby of UC Davis.
