
Day Three Comes To Close At USTA/ITA Regional Championships

SEATTLE – Washington finished up the third day at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships this evening with two rounds of singles and one round of doubles play.
Jake Douglas started things off right, advancing against Hayden Smith of Gonzaga 6-4, 7-5. In the next round Douglas came out on top of a marathon match, defeating Maciek Romanowicz of Stanford 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 after winning the tiebreaker 8-6. Gal Hakak won both of his matches in singles as well, defeating Jordan Smith of Gonzaga 6-1, 6-0 and J.T. Nishimura of California 6-2, 6-0.
Freshman Enzo Sommer defeated Mikus Losbergs of Sacramento St. 7-5, 6-3 to start of his day, but fell in the next round to the No. 1 seed Florian Lakat of California 6-1, 6-4. Mitch Stewart won both of his singles matches today, defeating Daniel Alameh of Pacific 6-1, 6-1 and Jayson Amos of Oregon 6-1, 6-2. The Huskies will have three of the eight participants in tomorrow's quarterfinals round of singles.
Participating in the consolation singles matches, Wendell Watanabe faced Vuk Vuckovic of Eastern Washington and won 6-4, 6-3.
In doubles, Rishabh Raman and Enzo Sommer fell to Miguel Diaz and Sem Verbeek of Pacific 8-4.
