SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington senior goalkeeper Ryan Herman added to his accolades this week, earning Pac-12 Player of the Week as voted on by conference office. He adds this honor to the National Player of the Week as picked by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Herman was tabbed by the conference over Samuel Ebstein of California, Jordan Jones of Oregon State and Andrew Epstein of Stanford.
Herman has been sensational all season with eight shutouts, but took it to another level last weekend in the Bay Area. It started with a career-high 11 saves in a 0-0 draw with No. 3 Stanford. In that match, Herman kept the Dawgs in it with one game-saving after the next.
Sunday, Herman was not tested as often, but made five saves in a 0-0 draw with California. His sprawling reaction save in the 108th minute kept the Huskies from what could have been a late deflating Golden Goal from Cal.
The native of Fall City, Wash. has imporoved his career record to 20-4-8 this season. He currently leads the Pac-12 and is second in the nation with eight shutouts. He also leads the Pac-12 in both total saves with 53 and saves per game at 4.82. His goals against average of 0.57 ranks behind on Andew Epstein of Stanford in the conference.
Washington is back in action this weekend for a crucial matchup with Oregon State on Sunday at 5 p.m. The game will be played at Husky Soccer Field and also broadcast by the Pac-12 Networks.
