SEATTLE - Dallas Baptist used a three-run fourth inning and then hung on to beat the Washington baseball team, 3-1, in the first game of a three-game series Thursday night at Husky Ballpark.
DBU starter Aaron Gilbreath improved to 1-1 with the victory. In his five and two-thirds innings, he gave up one run on five hits. Chris Haney worked the ninth for his third save.
UW freshman Austin Voth (1-1), who picked up a win in his first college start last Saturday vs. BYU, took the loss Thursday. He gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits over five and two-thirds.
Jacob Lamb and Ryan Wiggins each had two hits for Washington.
Washington grabbed the early lead in the second. After a single from Wiggins, a walk to Chase Anselment and a sacrifice bunt, B.K. Santy singled to center to drive in one, giving the Dawgs a 1-0 edge.
In the fourth, Dallas Baptist rallied with two down. After an infield single, Jason Krizan doubled to the track in left, scoring a run. Ryan Behmanesh followed with a double off the wall in left, scoring Krizan. An infield single and an error then allowed Krizan to score from second, giving DBU a 3-1 lead.
