LEWISTON, Idaho - Center fielder Jay Garthwaite continued his career-long success against Washington State, going 4-for-4 Tuesday as the Washington baseball team out- slugged WSU, 18-12, to complete a sweep of a two-game, non-conference series at Harris Field.
The loss was the ninth in a row for the Cougars (10-15) while the Huskies improved to 11-8-1.
Garthwaite, a junior from Kent (Kent-Meridian), belted a two-run homer in the second inning, his seventh of the year and his eighth in 11 career games vs. WSU. With five RBI in the game, he has 19 career vs. the Huskies' rival. In Monday's series opener, Garthwaite was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.

The Huskies, however, tied the game at 7-7 with a five-run third inning before going in front, 10-7, with three more runs in the fourth. But the Cougars came back in the bottom half of the frame to tie the score with three runs.
Washington broke free for good in the sixth when Larsen's double down the left- field line drove in a pair of runs.
