FULLERTON, Calif. - Washington's senior pitchers shut out No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette, 4-0, and Texas, 6-0, and knocked in the winning runs in both games to help the No. 1 Huskies advance to the quarterfinals of the Kia Klassic on Friday. UW, now 28-1, will face the winner of the Cal State Fullerton-DePaul game at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Senior Jennifer Spediacci struck out 13 batters and knocked in all four runs in the win over Louisiana-Lafayette in UW's final game of pool play, and the Huskies scored a quiet six runs to shut out Texas later in the day in the first round of the championship bracket.

Spediacci's 13 whiffs was a personal record, and she hit a three-run homer in the fourth frame to break open a 1-0 game. In the second inning, redshirt freshman Jaime Clark, who had singled.

Against Texas, senior Jamie Graves struck out four in five innings and allowed six hits that were harmless with the help of a solid Husky defense. Topping and Clark led off the second frame with singles. Bork, running for Topping again, stole second and moved to third on the hit by Clark, who then stole second. Graves hit her third double of the season to drive Bork and Clark in.

After the Longhorns shut down the Husky offense the next three frames, Clark led off the sixth with her 14th double of the year. After Clark stole second, Spediacci walked and Graves was intentionally walked to load the bases. Senior Erin Helgeland was hit by a pitch to score Clark, and senior Rosie Leutzinger hit a long single to bring Spediacci and Graves home. Junior Kelly Hauxhurst sacrificed Helgeland home to end the scoring.
