FULLERTON, Calif. - The top-ranked Washington softball team set another record today for consecutive victories, downing DePaul, 6-0, on Saturday for its 20th straight win and a trip to the Kia Klassic semifinals tomorrow at 9 a.m. The Huskies (29-1) will face Pac-10 foe Oregon State, 22-5-1 and ranked 12th in the nation. The final will follow at 2 p.m.

Senior Jennifer Spediacci threw her 12th complete game of the season and eighth shutout, upping her record to 14-1 with an eight-strikeout, three-hit performance from the circle. Junior Kim DePaul went 3-for-3, driving in a run, and classmate Kelly Hauxhurst was 3-for-4, also with an RBI.

The Huskies began the scoring in the second inning, with four hits producing three runs. Senior Melissa Downs walked, and junior Christie Rosenblad moved pinch runner Jessica Bork to second. Seniors Erin Helgeland and Rosie Leutzinger then hit consecutive doubles, bringing Helgeland home, and Hauxhurst and DePaul singled to score Leutzinger.

Rosenblad slammed a ball over the left field fence in the fourth inning for her second homer of the year and the team's 44th to make it 4-0. The final two runs came in the sixth inning on three more hits. Downs singled, Helgeland walked and Leutzinger singled to bring Downs home with the help of an error. Hauxhurst then singled Helgeland in before a double play ended the game.
