She is a leader and has a lot of confidence in her defense. She has an incredible percentage of base runners caught stealing. She is a team captain for the second year, and that's because of her leadership. She is organized and not afraid to tell it like it is. Jeanine knows we have unfinished business, and she's not about to let anything stand in her way."
Washington: Giordano holds the UW career record in fielding percentage with a .994 average and in fewest errors with four...Chosen in the sixth round, 22nd pick overall, by the Akron Racers in the 2000 Women's Pro Softball League senior draft.
Junior (1999): Continued her impressive fielding efforts, recording just one error in 434 chances to break her own season record (.998)... Committed no errors during Pac-10 or postseason play...Started behind the plate in all 66 games she played...Threw out 13 of the 35 base runners trying to steal...Hit .333 with bases loaded...Went 1-for-2 with two RBI against No. 1 UCLA (4/3)...Hit 4-for-8 in the Louisville Slugger Classic in Gainesville, Fla...Earned first-team academic all-Pac-10 honors.
Sophomore (1998): Returned to the lineup after a medical redshirt season in 1997... Played in 59 games at catcher, starting 58 of them...Set UW season records in fielding percentage (.994) and fewest errors (2), which she shared with teammate Jennifer Spediacci...Had a team-leading 326 putouts, along with 29 assists...Collected the fourth-most walks by a Husky player with 12...Registered two hits against Colorado State (2/22), including her second career home run...Also had two hits against No. 6 Oklahoma (3/1)...Had 11 putouts vs. Massachusetts (2/27)...Threw out 10 of the 25 runners attempting to steal a base.
Redshirt (1997): Played in only the first eight games of the season, starting seven, before taking a redshirt year because of illness...Collected one run and four RBI on three hits in 15 at bats...Made only one error.
Freshman (1996): Appeared in 60 games, starting 55 of them primarily as the designated player...Started six games and played in 14 overall at catcher...Perfect in first career start vs. Florida State (2/16), going 3-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI...Hit first homer vs. Ohio State (2/23), driving in three runs...Had an eight-game hitting streak (3/3-17)...During that span, hit 14-22 (.636) with seven runs scored, six RBI and three doubles...Big game came against St. Mary's (3/15), when she went 4-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a double...Hit .301 for the season...Had a .977 fielding percentage...Hit .250 (2-8) in three regional games with two RBI and a double in 9-3 win over Oklahoma State...Appeared in all four games of the College World Series...Went 2-4 vs. UCLA, scoring once and driving in three.
