Wilson on Hauxhurst: "Kelly is as clutch a player as you'll ever see. You can go every year from her freshman year up, and Kelly is a postseason queen. She just loves the challenge and the better the competition, the better she is.
"Kelly finds a way to come up with the great play and yet, she also is the model of consistency. She is just one of those kids who can never get enough credit.
"Kelly exemplifies the term student-athlete. She takes her academics very seriously. She takes extreme pride in being in shape, in being strong in the weight room, in being a leader and representing herself, her team and the University of Washington in the highest manner."
Washington: Ranks sixth all-time in stolen bases (50-of-54) and is tied for eighth in runs scored (129) ... appears in three season batting categories, including runs scored (7th - 57), at bats (9th - 218) and sacrifice hits (1st - 15) ... will serve as one of the team's captains along with classmate Kim DePaul and sophomore Jaime Clark.
AS A JUNIOR: One of four UW players to play and start in all 71 games ... earned Pac-10 honorable mention honors, ranking third among conference teams in runs scored (57) and eighth in hits (76) ... posted a career-best .326 batting average, while recording career-highs in nearly every offensive category, including runs, hits, doubles (12), home runs (2), walks (21), on-base percentage (.380) and slugging percentage (.412) ... committed just one error in the field in 46 chances for a .979 fielding percentage ... academically, was named to the GTE/CoSIDA all-district VIII team and the Pac-10 all-academic first team ... tabbed for NCAA regional all-tournament honors for the third straight season, hitting .667 (8-for-12) with six runs scored and had two perfect outings at the plate versus Army (2-for-2) and Mississippi State (3-for-3) ... homered and singled to drive in first two runs of the game in 4-1 win over Mississippi State ... earned the Pac-10 Player of the Week award for the first time in her career on April 18 after hitting .538 (7-for-13) with four runs scored and a pair of RBI ... also posted a 3-for-3 performance at #2 Arizona on April 16 ... scored three runs in a 2-for-5 performance versus San Diego State ... collected three hits in games versus Fresno State and DePaul at the Kia Klassic ... was one of three UW players named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic all-tournament team, scoring eight runs and hitting two doubles and a home run in six games ... went yard for the first time in her career in a rout of Nebraska (10-2)... scored three runs in the team's 6-1 romp over Florida at the NFCA Leadoff Classic... drove in three of the team's six runs with a second-inning double in a 6-0 win over #19 Texas ... had a 15-game hitting streak from February 11 through February 26, the second-longest on the team ... opened the season against Southern Mississippi, going 1-for-2 at the plate with a pair of runs scored, an RBI and a career-high four stolen bases.
AS A Sophomore (1999): Started all 69 games in left field and finished the season with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 79 chances ... solidified her reputation as a clutch hitter, batting .385 (10-26) in the postseason and producing seven RBI and four runs ... had the game-winning hit in a 3-0 win over Arizona at the College World Series, a two-run, opposite-field double ... named to the regional all-tournament team for the second time after batting .571 (8-14) while scoring four runs and knocking in five ... in regional win over Tennessee, went 3-3 with three runs scored and three batted in ... recorded a school-record 15 sacrifice hits, a total which also tied for second in the Pac-10, while batting in the number-two spot in the lineup ... also had a team-high 218 at-bats, which ranked seventh on the charts ... second on the squad in two-out RBI (15) and triples (2), and third in hits (62) and stolen bases (15) ... hit safely in the first nine games of the season, the longest hitting streak of her career, batting .464 in that stretch ... had 21 multi-hit games ... batted .500 with the bases loaded, .364 with runners on base, and .371 with runners in scoring position ... tied for the team lead with 14 runs in Pac-10 games ... was 4-for-6 in a doubleheader against Florida (2/20), including a three-run, bases-loaded triple in the second game ... collected two hits in three at-bats in three straight games at the Easton Showcase Tournament in Fullerton, Calif. ... named second-team academic all-Pac-10 ... shared team's Golden Glove award with Jeanine Giordano.
AS A Freshman (1998): Played in all but one game in left field, starting 65 times ... hit .288 primarily as a slapper, with 47 starts in the second slot ... was third on the team in runs (32) and stolen bases (23), and was caught stealing just twice ... collected 49 hits on the season, fourth on the squad ... committed only one error in 60 opportunities (.985) ... provided clutch performances in the postseason, earning a spot on both the Region No. 4 and College World Series all-tournament teams ... in regionals, went 4-10 with three runs ... was 5-15 with two runs in the CWS and collected hits in the final three games of the year ... led the team in postseason runs (5) and hits (9) and had the second-best batting average (.375) ... had a career-high four hits in game two at UCLA (4/28) ... went 4-4, with two runs scored and a career-high three RBI ... that game also ignited a six-game hitting streak, her longest of the season ... during that span, UW posted a 5-1 record vs. UCLA (4/28), Portland State (5/1), Oregon State (5/2), and Oregon (5/3) ... hit 15-25 (.600) from the plate, including nine runs scored, three RBI, a double and five stolen bases ... crossed the plate a career-high four times off three hits vs. Portland State on April Fools' Day ... had 11 other multi-hit games, including other three-hit outings against Portland State (5/1) and Oregon State (5/3).
High School: Earned all-CIF honors three times at Westminster ... all-Goldenwest League four years and all-county as a sophomore, junior and senior ... played center field as a freshman, shortstop as a sophomore, and second base as a junior and senior ... team MVP all four years and a four-year letterwinner ... played for Orange County Batbusters four years during the summer ... in 1994, team won Hall of Fame tournament and was ASA National Champion ... also won the 1995 and 1997 ASA Gold National Championships ... teammate Christie Rosenblad also played on that team ... tried out for the 1995 for Junior Olympics ... also played soccer ... varsity MVP all four years and a four-year all-leaguer ... a scholar-athlete all four years and named a distinguished scholar-athlete in 1997.
