Washington vs. Oregon Post-Game Notes

Oregon's final basket, a short jumper by Angelina Wolvert, gave Oregon its first lead since holding a 53-52 advantage with 12:14 remaining in the second half.

The Ducks held Washington scoreless in the final 3:52, closing the game on a 10-0 run. After sophomore guard Shaquala Williams fouled out with 6:50 remaining, Oregon held a 10-9 advantage the rest of the way. It marked the first time in Williams' college career that she has fouled out of a game.

Washington's 36-34 lead at halftime was its first halftime lead since Dec. 19 vs Oklahoma State in the championship game of the Seattle Times Husky Classic.

The Oregon win was its 9th consecutive victory over Washington, dating back to Feb. 8, 1995. Washington last defeated Oregon Jan. 13, 1995, 82-66 in Seattle. The one-point differential marks the closest game in the UW-Oregon series since a 68-67 Washington win on Jan. 22, 1988.

Pac-10 leading scorer Megan Franza finished the game with seven points, her second-lowest scoring output of the '99-2000 season. Franza recorded a season-low four points versus Oregon State Thursday.

Over the course of the game the lead changed hands 15 times, and the two teams were tied 10 times. Oregon took the lead for good with :11 remaining.

Husky freshman Loree Payne scored 24 points tonight, snapping a three-game stretch during which she scored 13, 9, and 11 points respectively, for a 10.3 average. Payne is the Pac-10's second-leading scorer, averaging 16.7 ppg.

The Huskies one-point loss was its slimmest defeat of the season.

The victory was the first-ever one-point victory for Oregon head coach Jody Runge.

With 20 points, Williams topped the 20-mark for the fourth consecutive time versus Washington. Williams has never scored less than 20 points against UW.
