2025 Outdoor Track: Dropped his personal-bests and punched his ticket to NCAA West Prelims in two events โฆ went to No. 5 in UW history in the 10,000-meters with a run of 28:29.82 at the Stanford Invitational โฆ ran the No. 8 time in UW history in the 5,000-meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational, going 13:37.54 โฆ at NCAA West Prelims, placed 33rd overall in the 10k and doubled back to finish 30th in the 5k โฆ was 10th in the 10,000m at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships and took 11th in the 5,000m in 13:43.20 โฆ named Spring Academic All-Big โฆ earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors โฆ named to the National Collegiate Honor Society.
2025 Indoor Track: Scored at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, taking eighth in the 5,000-meters in 13:52.10, and also finished 13th in the 3,000m in 8:03.93 โฆ ran a 3,000m PR in 7:51.57 at the Husky Classic โฆ became a sub-four-minute miler for the first time at the Mile City meet, winning his heat in a time of 3:59.32.
2024 Cross Country: Helped the Huskies return to the NCAA Championships, running in the top-seven four times including at all three postseason meets โฆ earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors with a 14th-place finish at the Big Ten meet, finishing in 23:05 as the No. 3 Husky scorer as UW placed second โฆ earned All-West Region honors with a 22nd-place finish, fifth on the squad, as UW won the team title for the first time since 2015 ... was the No. 7 finisher on the team at NCAAs in 236th-place overall ... the seventh Husky finisher at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invite in 134th-place overall โฆ named to the Fall Academic All-Big Ten Team.
2024 Track: Set PRs at every distance and helped the Huskies win the Pac-12 team title with a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meters, running 29:47.83 at elevation which converted down to a 28:46.43 which is No. 9 in school history โฆ qualified for NCAA Prelims in the 10k but did not finish โฆ raced to a 5,000-meters PR of 13:49.19 at the Payton Jordan Invite โฆ indoors, won his 5k heat at the Husky Classic with an indoor PR of 13:50.01 โฆ won his heat of the mile at the UW Invitational in a PR of 4:05.16 โฆ also set a 3,000-meters PR at the UW Invitational, going 7:55.29 for seventh-place โฆ named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as well as the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2023 Cross Country: Earned All-West Region honors in his first official fall season, placing 21st at the West Regional Championships in 20:41 for 10k, which was third among Huskies โฆ at his first Pac-12 Championships, was 21st overall and sixth on the squad in 23:32 as UW placed second overall โฆ the No. 4 Husky scorer at the Wisconsin Invitational, finishing 159th overall โฆ first official race in uniform was Virginia Invitational where he was 192nd overall and sixth on the squad โฆ earned a spot on the Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll โฆ named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
2023 Track: Redshirted the season, racing unattached indoors and outdoors โฆ indoors, won his first race, taking his heat of the 5k at the Husky Classic in 14:08.91 โฆ outdoors, ran an unattached 10,000-meters at the OSU High Performance Meet in 30:28.16 โฆ won a 5k at the Portland Distance Carnival in 14:12.11 โฆ set a 5k PR of 14:07.15 at the Portland Track Festival.
2022 Cross Country: Redshirted the fall.
High School and Personal: Born in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia โฆ parents are Julie and Jason Distel โฆ was ASB Executive President โฆ won the 1A Washington state cross country championship in 2021 with the second-fastest time across classifications โฆ also in 2021 captured the Nike Portland XC title by 12 seconds in a 5,000-meter best of 14:47.
