High School and Personal: Born in Scottsdale, Arizona โฆ parents are Erica and William Daschbach โฆ has one older brother, William โฆ made headlines by becoming the 11th U.S. high schooler ever to break the four-minute mile barrier when he ran 3:59.54 at a meet in El Dorado Hill, Calif. in May of 2020 โฆ that time ranks ninth in U.S. history and he became just the fourth to run sub-four in a race of exclusively high school athletes โฆ the sub-four run was a rare chance during a senior season that was essentially lost to the Covid-19 pandemic โฆ a four-time Gatorade Arizona Athlete of the Year winner, twice in cross country (2018-19; 2019-20) and twice in track (2018-19; 2019-20) โฆ as a junior in 2019, he swept four Arizona state titles on the track, winning the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, and the 4x800m relay โฆ won his first state track title as a sophomore, winning the 1,600-meters โฆ in the fall of 2019, ran the No. 2 all-time 5k cross country performance ever, winning the Desert Twilight Festival in 14:14.26 โฆ captured state cross country titles as a sophomore and senior and was runner-up as a junior โฆ capped junior track season in 2019 with a mile run of 4:03.98 at the Brooks PR Invite in Seattle โฆ named the 2020 AZCentral Boys Athlete of the Year for the state.
