Huskies Hoping Arizona Helps Heat Things Up

March 31, 2011
TEMPE, Ariz. -- All head coach Mary Lou Mulflur and her Husky golf team wants is some sun. And a win wouldn't hurt either.
In the Huskies previous four trips this spring, they have been snake-bitten by the weather. In a February trip to Arizona, Mulflur's squad was greeted by frost delays. Rain hampered both Stanford's Peg Barnard Classic and San Jose State's Juli Inkster Invitational. Last week's trip to North Carolina saw the temperatures fluctuate from the low 80's when they arrived six days before the tournament to the high 30's by the time play began six days later.
Enough is enough. The Dawgs deserve some sun.
They will get plenty of that this week at the 2011 PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona. The temperatures are expected to be in the 90's during the 54-hole tournamemt at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course.
This week's tournament is the Huskies' final tune up before the Pac-10 Championships. Luckily for the Dawgs, the conference tournament will also be held at the par-72, 6,230-yard Karsten GC.
Joining No. 31/37 (Golfstat.com/Golfweek.com) Washington in Tempe are 16 other squads, including every Pac-10 team with the exception of Oregon. In addition, Denver, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Texas, TCU and Vanderbilt will be playing this week.
Mulflur's lineup will be Anya Alvarez, Sadena Parks, Karinn Dickinson, A Ram Choi and Brittany Tallman.
Tee times start at 8:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 on Sunday.
