September 18, 2026 | Men's Tennis
TULSA – Washington men's tennis third-year Stephane Kamendje and fourth-year Soham Purohit will represent the Huskies at the ITA All-American Championships, competing to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships.Â
In the first pre-qualifying round, Washington will face Indiana and Arizona. Kamendje will face fourth-year Hoosier Benjamin Pomeranets, while Purohit takes on senior Wildcat Cole Stelse.Â
Kamendje enters the tournament following a breakout sophomore season. Kamendje captured the Gonzaga Invitational title and his first ranked win of his career in the final match of the season against UCLA. Kamendje finished the season with the second-highest win total on the team, recording 11 dual-match victories and 18 wins overall.Â
Purohit enters the ITA All-American Championships with national experience already under his belt. This past season Purohit earned his first singles ranking of his career, marking the second consecutive season that Washington had at least one player appear in the opening singles rankings. Purohit also captured the ITA Northwest Regional singles championship, becoming the first Husky to win the regional title since Matt Hanlin in 2002, and went on to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships for the first time in his career.
Ten singles players will ultimately qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships, while five doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championships.Â
The Huskies will begin pre-qualifying rounds Saturday morning, and will need two more wins on Sunday to advance to the Qualifying bracket.Â
