ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Washington fell in the second of three games with Michigan on Saturday afternoon, 4-3.
The Huskies move to 18-24 and 8-12 in Big Ten play.
Jackson Thomas started day on the mound and had a productive outing, allowing just one run in five innings of work. He surrendered just three hits against four strikeouts in his seventh start of the year.
Michigan scored early, bagging a run in the first inning, but Blake Wilson answered in the fourth, tying the game with a solo home run. It was Wilson's first bomb of the season.
Liam Lierman took over in the sixth and tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless ball with two strikeouts to keep the game tied.
In the eighth inning, Mic Paul laced a single to left field, scoring Wilson and Ty Cowan to put Washington in front 3-1.
The Huskies kept the Wolverines from scoring in the eighth, but they responded in the ninth with a two-RBI double and an RBI single to win the game, 4-3.
Washington will look to bounce back in game three of the series on Sunday as the teams face off in the series finale at 10 a.m. PT.
