Taggart And Hotchkiss Homer As Huskies Fall To Michigan State 13-8

Washington moves to 16-22 and 7-10 in Big Ten play.
Casen Taggart got the offense going for Washington in the second inning. The Spartans had built a six-run lead, but a three-run bomb from the senior helped the Huskies put up four in the bottom of the second to cut the deficit to two.
It was Taggart's first home run since February 24 against Seattle U and this one went 404 feet to deep right field.
Washington's second home run came from Jackson Hotchkiss in the seventh. It was the sophomore's team-leading 12th bomb of the season and shot 392 feet to straightaway center field.
Despite the power from the Husky bats, Washington couldn't keep pace with the Spartans.
Liam Lierman, Bryce Johnson, and Jack Wade were the most productive pitchers for Washington, combining to throw four innings in relief with no runs allowed to close out the contest.
Jackson Hotchkiss led all Husky hitters with three hits and two runs scored. Casen Taggart paced the team with three RBIs while Sam DeCarlo, Blake Wilson, and Ethan Swidler all chipped in multiple hit games as well.
The Huskies swill look to bounce back in the series finale at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
