Washington Defeats Wisconsin, 4-1, On Senior Day

SEATTLE – No. 21 Washington women's tennis wrapped up its final home match of the regular season with a 4-1 victory over No. 31 Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon at Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.

The Huskies improve to 17-3 overall and 8-3 in conference action. Washington is undefeated at home during the regular season (12-0) for the first time since 2003.

UW won its 18th doubles point of the season with victories on Courts 2 and 3. After Wisconsin won the first court, 6-0, Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim tied it up with a 6-3 win on two. Washington remains unbeaten on the No. 2 doubles court this season. Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif battled in the No. 3 spot and won in a tie break, 7-6(4).

Jacobs was the first Dawg to finish her singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 win on Court 3.

Wisconsin won the point on Court 1 as Erika Matsuda battled the 19th-ranked singles player.

No. 118 Weissheim put the third point on the board for the Dawgs with her straight-set victory on Court 4. She won her match, 6-2, 6-1 to improve to 14-0 in singles.

Sherif had the match-clincher on Court 5 as she went on to win, 6-4, 6-0.

Washington will be back on the court for the final weekend of the regular season. The Huskies travel to Penn State (April 17) before closing out the regular season at Ohio State (April 19). UW will remain in Columbus for the Big Ten Tournament that begins on April 23.
