Huskies Fall To Spartans In Top 25 Matchup

SEATTLE — The No. 23 Washington women's basketball team (12-3, 2-2 Big Ten) roared out of the gates Thursday night, but ultimately fell short in an 82-67 loss to No. 15 Michigan State (15-1, 4-1 Big Ten) in Alaska Airlines Arena.
Elle Ladine immediately knocked down four 3-pointers in the first quarter and another in the second to finish the night with 15 points and four rebounds.
Behind Ladine's hot hand, the Huskies ended the first quarter leading 25-14, shooting 53.3% from the field and 50% from behind the 3-point line. Washington knocked down another five buckets in the second quarter to stay in the fight, 36-39.
Washington forced 14 Michigan State turnovers, converting them into 12 points. The Huskies also added six blocks and seven steals.
Sayvia Sellers contributed 14 points and four assists. Hannah Stines and Yulia Grabovskaia each notched three assists and Washington finished the game with 14.
Avery Howell finished in double figures for the 10th straight game, notching 10 points and four rebounds.
Sienna Harvey had an efficient night, recording nine points and four rebounds.
