Men’s Tennis Ready For ITA Kickoff Weekend

SEATTLE - The University of Washington Men's Tennis Team travels to Austin, Texas, this weekend to take on South Florida on Friday Jan. 23 at 3:00 p.m. Central / 1:00 p.m . Pacific, on the first day of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, with a secondary matchup of either No. 4 Texas or UNC-Wilmington scheduled for day two, Saturday Jan 24, depending on the results of day one. Matches are tentatively scheduled to be played at the Texas Tennis Center, but are subject to change depending on weather forecasts for the area.
The Huskies make the trip to Austin off the back of a 2-1 start to the season, most recently with a loss to Ivy League side Princeton, in what was a closely contested battle with four of six singles matches lasting until the third and final set. The Huskies look to return to winning ways this weekend against a talented South Florida side whose 0-2 record comes by losses to 12th-ranked side Central Florida and in-state rival Florida.
This Texas trip will provide ample opportunity for this young Huskies squad to show that they've built upon the lessons learned from the early season and Tuesday's match with an experienced Tigers squad. The Bulls will serve as another test for the Dawgs against an experienced side, with five of ten roster spots occupied by upperclassmen and a graduate transfer.
Fans are asked to stay tuned for potential changes in venue and match start times due to the potential for inclement weather in the area.
