Men's Tennis Home Opener vs Belmont University
January 16, 2026 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – The University of Washington Men's Tennis team hosts Nashville's Belmont University Saturday, January 17th at 11am at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The match will be live-streamed via Track Tennis and live stat coverage will be provided by Stat Broadcast.
Belmont, who opens the 2026 season with a trip to Seattle with a set of matches over the weekend, plays Portland in a neutral site match on Friday, January 16th at 3pm in Nordstrom. The match on Saturday will be the first meeting between Washington and Belmont.
Coming off a 6-1 victory at Hawai'i last week, the Huskies look to continue their winning ways against the Bruins. However, the Bruins aren't coming to Seattle to lay down lightly. Belmont makes the cross-country trip as favorites to repeat as Horizon League champions and hold a 23-match conference win streak. With a squad of four seniors and a graduate transfer, this Belmont side will come into Nordstrom with experience on its side.
However, the Huskies will counter with depth and experience of their own with the 89th-ranked player junior Soham Purohit, senior Brett Pearson, and multi-year starters sophomores Stephane Kamendje and Rohan Belday. All of whom provided winning performances in the team's win last week.
This match will be one of the early tests this season for these young Huskies, as facing an experienced non-conference side will build confidence leading into next week's match vs Princeton and ITA Kickoff Weekend in Austin, Texas.
