Husky Hoops Loses Home Battle With No. 4 Michigan
January 14, 2026 | Men's Basketball
SEATTLE – The Huskies hung around all night with 4th-ranked Michigan but couldn't overcome a 9-point first half deficit, falling to the Wolverines 72-82 inside a sold out Alaska Airlines Arena.
Five Dawgs scored in double digits in front of 9,294 fans, led by a career-high 15 points from JJ Mandaquit, who had just five points in Big Ten play entering today's game. The freshman connected on 5-of-8 field goals (career-high three-pointers) and added four rebounds and two assists.
Quimari Peterson put up 13 points, including four threes, and Zoom Diallo registered 12 points.
Jacob Ognacevic added 10 points in his Husky debut, hitting a pair of triples and pulling down three boards. Hannes Steinbach recorded his 10th career double double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Washington held Michigan to 39 first half points, just the fifth time this season the Wolverines have been held under 40 in the first 20 minutes of action.
The Huskies have another Top-15 matchup on Saturday, playing host to No. 12 Michigan State at 3 p.m. in Alaska Airlines Arena.
