Ni Finishes Fifth, Huskies Finish Sixth In Shortened Tournament
September 23, 2025 | Women's Golf
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Huskies concluded just two rounds of play this week, as the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic was cut short Tuesday due to weather.
Washington played 32 holes Monday and were set to play the remaining four holes of the second round before moving on to the final 18 today, but the third round was cancelled due to weather in Fort Collins.
Athena Ni capped the two-round tournament in fifth place out of 77 players, the highest of her career and first ever Top-5 finish. The sophomore was the only Husky to finish under-par, finishing -4 on the tournament (-3 in the first round and -1 in the second round).
"The team showed a lot of grit over these two days," said head coach Anna Temple. "We did not get off to the best of starts in round one, but everyone battled back in the final few holes. We're disappointed we couldn't get today's round in, but we made a lot of progress. Athena's top 5 finish at -4 was awesome. The work she's put into her game is evident and she really led the way for us."
Colorado finished first (-13) in Fort Collins, followed by CSU Fullerton (-6), Cal Poly (-5), UNLV (-1), and Nebraska (+1) in the Top-5, with the Dawgs earning sixth place (+7).
Carmen Lim finished second overall for Washington, notching a three-over par second round and ending in a tie for 24th place.
Amber Li, who recorded two of her three career eagles in this tournament, finished tied with Mads Smith in 31st place. The pair was both four-over par, with Li notching eight birdies and two eagles, as Smith hit nine birdies.
Wendy Tang rounded out the UW lineup, finishing tied with individual competitor Claudia Alnajim tied for 52nd place (+7).
Tournament Recap:
UW (+7, 6th of 13 teams)
Washington will compete next at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto from Oct. 17-19.
