WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. β No. 7 seed Washington opens the Big Ten Conference Tournament on Wednesday against No. 10 seed Indiana. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PT and airing live on Big Ten Network.

The winner of the game will go on to face No. 2 seed UCLA on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. PT. The 2025 Big Ten Tournament is being held at Purdue's Bittinger Stadium. It features the top 12 teams in the conference standing in a single-elimination format.

LAST TIME OUT
Washington (34-16, 12-9 Big Ten) won its fifth conference series, taking two games at Penn State to earn the seven seed heading into the Big Ten Tournament. Alexis DeBoer led the Huskies at the plate, going 5-for-10 with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, three RBI, two walks and held a 1.300 slugging percentage. She was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her performance. Giselle Alvarez (4), Jadyn Glab (3), Alycia Flores (3), Riley Peschek (3) and Sophi Mazzola (3) all added multiple RBIs. Sophia Ramuno led the pitching staff with eight innings thrown with six strikeouts. Stevie Hansen notched seven strikeouts over 4.1 innings while Morgan Reimer threw her third complete game shutout - and fifth complete game - in the series finale.

NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alexis DeBoer was named D1Softball National Player of the Week after the Black and Orange Classic to close out the non-conference tournament season. The freshman posted a .538 batting average with seven hits, a double, five home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored and drew five walks while posting a 1.769 slugging percentage. On the season, DeBoer is batting .372 with a team-leading six doubles and 11 walks. She is on a 10-game hitting streak and has 13 consecutive games with an RBI. It is the first national player of the week honor since Olivia Johnson was named NFCA Player of the Week in 2022.

BIG TEN PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
For the first time in program history, a pair of Dawgs have been named Big Ten players of the week following a 6-0 weekend at the OUTRIGGER Invitational. Freshman Alexis DeBoer won Player of the Week, while senior Stevie Hansen was named Pitcher of the Week. DeBoer once again earned Big Ten honor on May 5 as Freshman of the Week after the Penn State series.

NFCA FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR TOP 25
Alexis DeBoer was named one of 25 finalists of NFCA National Freshman of the Year on April 25. DeBoer is the first Husky to earn the honor since Gabbie Plain in 2018 and the fifth Husky overall named to be named to the list. She is one of five Big Ten freshman named to the 2025 list, joining UCLA's Addisen Fisher, Rutgers' Ella Harrison, Oregon's Rylee McCoy and Michigan's Lauren Putz.

A NEW ERA FOR WASHINGTON
The 2024-25 athletic year marks the inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference for Washington Athletics. On Aug. 2, 2024, the Huskies became official members of the Big Ten along with UCLA, USC and Oregon.

Since 2018, the Huskies have posted a 109-27 record at Husky Softball Stadium, including a 17-3 record in 2023 and 11-4 in 2024. Washington is 8-4 at home this season. Over the 12 games at Husky Softball Stadium this season, the Huskies averaged 1,460 attendees which ranks 16th in the nation and the third highest in the Big Ten behind Nebraska (2,228; 4th) and Oregon (1,865; 11th). Washington leads the Big Ten with a 97.31% capacity filled.

GETTING IT DONE IN THE CIRCLE
The Washington pitching staff of Sophia Ramuno, Stevie Hansen, Morgan Reimer and Madi Balk has combined for 12 shutouts on the season, 19th-most in the NCAA and second-most in the Big Ten. Their 3.78 strikeout-to-walk ratio is sixth best in the nation. The staff's 7.77 strikeouts per seven innings ranks eighth in Division I and 1.15 WHIP is 15th. Individually, Ramuno's 6.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio is second in the conference while coming in eighth nationally. Her 130 strikeouts is 51st-most in DI and 9.1 strikeouts per seven innings comes in 17th. Hansen is seventh in the B1G with her 1.06 WHIP which comes in 39th in the nation. UW is on track to have three pitchers with 10 or more wins. Reimer leads the team with 15, while Ramuno has 10 and Hansen has seven. The last time the Huskies had three pitchers with 10 or more wins was in 2012 with Kaitlin Inglesby (19), Kasey Stanchek (10) and Bryana Walker (10).

DEBUT MOMENTS
During the first three weeks of the season, 16 Huskies made their debut in the Purple and Gold. Ten saw time in game one against Alabama - Alexis DeBoer, Charity Sevaaetasi, Alycia Flores, Riley Peschek, Gabi Toney, Addie Craig, Morgan Reimer, Ava Carroll, Tia Durst, Rylee Rehbein and Sophi Mazzola. Three more saw time in the second game of the day against Arizona - Jade Bubke, Stevie Hansen and Sophia Ramuno. Madi Balk made her Washington debut during week two against Utah Valley. Freshman Annika Ticen made her debut as a pinch runner against UC Riverside on Feb. 20.

OPENING WEEKEND SUCCESS
Dating back to 2014, the Huskies are 50-8 during opening weekend. In 2023, the Huskies went 4-1 at the Mark Campbell Invitational with the lone loss coming against Oklahoma. In 2024, UW went 3-1 at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the lone also coming against the Sooners in extra innings. Prior to that, Washington went undefeated the previous three seasons over opening weekend.

AMONG THE ACTIVE LEADERS
Fifth year senior Alycia Flores ranks 45th in NCAA Division I among active players with 145 RBI. Her 224 games played is 26th most and 45 doubles is 25th. Sophia Ramuno's 438 career strikeouts ranks 39th in NCAA Division I. Alexis DeBoer entered the rankings with her .851 slugging percentage among players with a minimum 100 career at bats which comes in fourth.

Washington has had five consecutive seasons with two or more Huskies with double-digit home runs (and nine of the last 10 complete seasons). 2019 was the lone complete season where two Huskies did not get over the mark. This season freshman Alexis DeBoer (20) and Jadyn Glab (14) are keeping the tradition while leading the team in homers.

Senior pitcher Stevie Hansen threw the 51st no-hitter in program history against UC Riverside at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Feb. 20. It was the second no-hitter of Hansen's career - her first came against Utah Valley in 2023 when she was at Oregon. The lone base runner in the game came in the first inning, reaching on an error.

Stevie Hansen threw the ninth perfect game is Washington softball history on March 9 versus Montana. She struck out six of the 15 batters faced in the 11-0 five inning victory over the Griz. Hansen is the fifth Husky pitcher to throw a perfect game joining Nancy Wagner, Jamie Graves, Danielle Lawrie and Gabbie Plain. It was the third no-hitter of Hansen's career and second this season for the senior.

This summer, freshman Morgan Reimer played for the Canadian Junior National Team at the U-18 Softball World Cup Group Stage, helping the team qualify for the 2025 World Cup. During the event, Reimer posted a 0.00 ERA with a 2-0 record over 14.2 innings. She struck out 29 batters and threw a perfect game against Australia. Additional this past summer, head coach Heather Tarr and former Husky Sis Bates led Team USA to a silver medal at the WBSC World Cup Finals. Taran Alvelo joined Team Puerto Rico for the World Cup. Baylee Klingler represented Team USA in the Japan All-Star Series. Representing Team Mexico this summer were Lindsay Lopez and Jillian Celis at the Canada Cup.

Washington has a tough schedule ahead with eight teams ranked on receiving votes in the preseason NFCA poll. The Huskies opened the season with four of their first five games against a ranked team in then-No. 11 Alabama and then-No. 16 Arizona. The Week 13 NFCA poll sees six opponents in the Top 25 in No. 4 Oregon, No. 9 UCLA, No. 12 Arizona, No. 19 Nebraska, No. 20 Alabama and No. 24 Grand Canyon. The Huskies have played 13 games against ranked opponents.

Washington will then head back down to The Grand Canyon State for the Littlewood Classic (Feb. 14-16). The Dawgs will continue their road swing with a 12-day trip beginning at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (Feb. 20-23) then traveling to Northridge for the first mid-week contest of the season versus CSUN On Feb. 24. UW will then head over to Hawaii for the OUTRIGGER Invitational (Feb. 26- March 1). The final tournament of the season will come at the Black and Orange Classic in Pocatello, Idaho (March 8-10). In total the Dawgs will travel almost 11,200 miles over the first five weeks. Washington will make their first appearance at Husky Softball Stadium for the Big Ten opener against Oregon on March 14-16. In total, the Huskies will travel almost 31,000 miles between the regular season and Big Ten Tournament. Washington is 11-8 this season in true road games.

The all-time winningest coach in Washington Athletics history, Heather Tarr eclipsed 800 career wins last season. Her career .722 winning percentage ranks 11th among active Division I softball head coaches with a minimum five years as a head coach. Her 854 wins are 24th most among active coaches. Indiana enters the Big Ten Tournament with an overall record of 32-17 and 10-12 in conference action to earn the 10-seed. As a team, Indiana leads the nation with a .373 batting average and are second in the country in doubles (104). Their on base percentage (.463) also leads the nation while scoring comes in seventh (7.73). Individually, the Hoosiers have three players that rank in the Top 100 this season in batting average in Taylor Minnick (.476; 5th), Madalyn Strader (.439; 29th) and Avery Parker (.409; 91st). Minnick is also fourth in the nation in doubles (21) and seventh in on base percentage (.582). Melina Wilkison is seventh nationally with seven triples. In the circle, Brianna Copeland leads the team with a 16-7 record in 38 appearances with a 4.80 ERA. She has thrown two solo shutouts and struck out 133 batters in her 131.1 innings of work.

Washington and Indiana have met four times previously with UW leading the series 3-1. The teams met last season in the first game of the Columbia Regional with the Huskies taking the game on a Giselle Alvarez walk-off double in the seventh inning.

UCLA enters the Big Ten Tournament as the 2-seed and No. 9 in the NFCA poll. The Bruins finished the regular season with an overall record of 47-9 and 17-5 in conference action. As a team, the Bruins rank in the Top 15 in the nation in batting average (.345; 12th), doubles (92; 5th), ERA (2.43; 15th), fielding percentage (.979; 10th), hit by pitches (49; 14th), hits (488; 11th), home runs (83; 9th), on base percentage (.445; 8th), RBI (401; 3rd), scoring (7.57; 11th), shutouts (16; 6th), slugging percentage (.602; 8th), strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.35; 3rd), strikeouts per seven innings (8.15; 4th), total runs (424; 3rd), WHIP (1.07; 6th) and winning percentage (.839; 6th). Savannah Pola leads the team offensively with a .433 average while Megan Grant has 23 home runs, good for fifth in the nation. Addisen Fisher and Kaitlyn Terry lead the team with 16 wins each.

UCLA leads the all-time series versus Washington 74-36. Last season the Huskies won their first series against the Bruins for the first time since 2016. It was also the first series win in Seattle against UCLA since 2010. Earlier this season, UCLA swept the three-game series in Westwood.

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
Indiana enters the Big Ten Tournament with an overall record of 32-17 and 10-12 in conference action to earn the 10-seed. As a team, Indiana leads the nation with a .373 batting average and are second in the country in doubles (104). Their on base percentage (.463) also leads the nation while scoring comes in seventh (7.73). Individually, the Hoosiers have three players that rank in the Top 100 this season in batting average in Taylor Minnick (.476; 5th), Madalyn Strader (.439; 29th) and Avery Parker (.409; 91st). Minnick is also fourth in the nation in doubles (21) and seventh in on base percentage (.582). Melina Wilkison is seventh nationally with seven triples. In the circle, Brianna Copeland leads the team with a 16-7 record in 38 appearances with a 4.80 ERA. She has thrown two solo shutouts and struck out 133 batters in her 131.1 innings of work.

ALL-TIME VS. INDIANA
Washington and Indiana have met four times previously with UW leading the series 3-1. The teams met last season in the first game of the Columbia Regional with the Huskies taking the game on a Giselle Alvarez walk-off double in the seventh inning.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS
UCLA enters the Big Ten Tournament as the 2-seed and No. 9 in the NFCA poll. The Bruins finished the regular season with an overall record of 47-9 and 17-5 in conference action. As a team, the Bruins rank in the Top 15 in the nation in batting average (.345; 12th), doubles (92; 5th), ERA (2.43; 15th), fielding percentage (.979; 10th), hit by pitches (49; 14th), hits (488; 11th), home runs (83; 9th), on base percentage (.445; 8th), RBI (401; 3rd), scoring (7.57; 11th), shutouts (16; 6th), slugging percentage (.602; 8th), strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.35; 3rd), strikeouts per seven innings (8.15; 4th), total runs (424; 3rd), WHIP (1.07; 6th) and winning percentage (.839; 6th). Savannah Pola leads the team offensively with a .433 average while Megan Grant has 23 home runs, good for fifth in the nation. Grant's 73 RBI is fourth in Division I and 1.000 slugging percentage is fifth. In the circle, Taylor Tinsley is second in the nation with her 10.69 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 9.5 strikeouts per seven innings is ninth. Addisen Fisher and Kaitlyn Terry lead the team with 16 wins each.

ALL-TIME VS. UCLA
UCLA leads the all-time series versus Washington 74-36. Last season the Huskies won their first series against the Bruins for the first time since 2016. It was also the first series win in Seattle against UCLA since 2010. Earlier this season, UCLA swept the three-game series in Westwood.
