Huskies Fall In Series Finale To Iowa

SEATTLE – Washington dropped the final game against Iowa on Sunday, 8-0. Despite the loss, the Huskies took the series against the Big Ten leaders, winning games one and two of the three-game set.
The Diamond Dawgs move to 27-22 and 15-9 in Big Ten play while Iowa improves to 32-15 and 21-6 in conference games.
Justin Tims made the start in the final game of the series and the freshman turned in a strong performance. In 5.0 innings pitched, he allowed three hits, one run, four walks, and four strikeouts.
The game was scoreless through four full frames until Iowa hit a solo home run to take the lead in the fifth. From there, the Hawkeyes were able to grow the advantage in each of the remaining innings.
Washington struggled to get the offense going on Sunday, logging three hits. AJ Guerrero had two of them, a double in the first inning and a single in the fourth.
Josh Emanuels, Reilly McAdams, and Peysen Sweeney each pitched in relief in the game, combining for the final four innings.
Washington returns to action tomorrow, taking on Warner Pacific at 6 p.m. for the last nonconference game of the year.
