SEATTLE – Four Huskies were named to All-Big Ten Teams, the conference announced on Tuesday. Isaac Yeager was named to the first team, Max Banks collected a second team award, AJ Guerrero was named a third team honoree, and Malakhi Knight earned a spot on the defensive team and the sportsmanship award.
Isaac Yeager has been one of the strongest relief pitchers in the conference, tallying seven saves, the sixth-most in the Big Ten, along with 46.2 innings pitched. Of the players collecting at least four saves, Yeager has the second-most strikeouts in the league with 57, trailing only Crawford Wade from Northwestern who has 61 strikeouts in 25 more innings than Yeager.
Max Banks proved to be one of the elite starting pitchers in the Big Ten from the beginning of the season. Among players qualifying for the ERA leader board, Banks ranks seventh in ERA (3.67), seventh in victories (7), seventh in runs allowed (29), and 10th in innings pitched (68.2).
AJ Guerrero, the all-time leader in hits at Washington, has had a productive season for the Huskies. The senior outfielder has hit a career-high 16 doubles this season and is second on the team in batting average (.311). Guerrero has slugged eight home runs, bringing his career total to 41, one shy of tying the program record.
Malakhi Knight has been a defensive force for the Huskies in centerfield, making remarkable catches and pulling back multiple home runs. Knight has been the part of two double plays this season, using his impressive throwing power to help tag out two runners attempting to tag-up and score from third.
Knight also earned the sportsmanship award for his class on and off the playing field.
