LUBBOCK, Texas – Washington softball dropped its opening game of the Lubbock Regional to No. 18 Mississippi State, 6-3, on Friday night at Rocky Johnson Field.

Morgan Reimer (15-10) got the start in the circle, going 2+ innings with a walk, a strikeout and four runs allowed.

Sophia Ramuno came on in relief and threw the final four innings with three hits, two runs and four strikeouts. Ramuno retired seven of the final nine batters she faced.

Alexis DeBoer got the scoring started in the first inning with her 21st home run of the season to give the Huskies a 1-0 advantage.

Mississippi State answered back with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.

A pair of solo home runs by Ava Carroll and Sophi Mazzola in the second cut the Bulldogs' lead to one.

The Bulldogs added to their lead on a two out, two-run home run in the fourth.

Washington will face Brown in an elimination game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. PT. The game can be seen on ESPN+ with the possibility of additional broadcast information announced later.
