SEATTLE – Washington softball closes out its non-conference tournament schedule at the Black and Orange Classic in Pocatello, Idaho from Saturday to Monday.
The Huskies will play five games over three days against Idaho State, Montana (twice), Utah and Boise State. Live stats for all games will be available at HuskyStats.com and a live stream of all games will be on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Washington went 6-0 at the OUTRIGGER Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii to improve its winning streak to nine games. Eleven Huskies recorded hits over the weekend for 51 hits and totaled 46 runs. DeBoer was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament while Hansen was named Most Valuable Pitcher. Giselle Alvarez, Jadyn Glab and Ava Carroll were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Husky pitching staff held a 1.14 ERA over the six games with three shutouts and 19 hits allowed while striking out 62 batters. The pitchers held opponents to a .144 batting average. Hansen, Sophia Ramuno and Morgan Reimer each had a pair of wins.
BIG TEN PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
For the first time in program history, a pair of Dawgs have been named Big Ten players of the week. Freshman Alexis DeBoer won Player of the Week, while senior Stevie Hansen was named Pitcher of the Week. DeBoer lead the team with a .579 batting average with 11 hits, 11 RBI, four runs, two doubles and three home runs at the OUTRIGGER Invitational. Hansen anchored the UW pitching staff with a 0.00 ERA, 2-0 record and a save over 12.2 innings. She struck out 16 batters along the way with only four hits and one walk allowed.
A NEW ERA FOR WASHINGTON
The 2024-25 athletic year marks the inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference for Washington Athletics. On Aug. 2, 2024, the Huskies became official members of the Big Ten along with UCLA, USC and Oregon.
GETTING IT DONE IN THE CIRCLE
The Washington pitching staff of Sophia Ramuno, Stevie Hansen, Morgan Reimer and Madi Balk has combined for eight shutouts on the season, seventh-best in the NCAA. Their 6.80 strikeout to walk ratio is the second-best just behind No. 1 Oklahoma. The staff's 8.75 strikeouts per seven innings ranks fifth in Division I and 0.97 WHIP is sixth. Individually, Ramuno's 14.00 strikeout to walk ratio leads the Big Ten while coming in fourth nationally. Her 70 strikeouts are 18th-most in DI. Hansen leads the B1G with her .72 WHIP which comes in 10th in the nation.
DEBUT MOMENTS
During the first three weeks of the season, 16 Huskies made their debut in the Purple and Gold. Ten saw time in game one against Alabama - Alexis DeBoer, Charity Sevaaetasi, Alycia Flores, Riley Peschek, Gabi Toney, Addie Craig, Morgan Reimer, Ava Carroll, Tia Durst, Rylee Rehbein and Sophi Mazzola. Three more saw time in the second game of the day against Arizona - Jade Bubke, Stevie Hansen and Sophia Ramuno. Madi Balk made her Washington debut during week two against Utah Valley. Freshman Annika Ticen made her debut as a pinch runner against UC Riverside on Feb. 20.
OPENING WEEKEND SUCCESS
Dating back to 2014, the Huskies are 50-8 during opening weekend. In 2023, the Huskies went 4-1 at the Mark Campbell Invitational with the lone loss coming against Oklahoma. In 2024, UW went 3-1 at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the lone also coming against the Sooners in extra innings. Prior to that, Washington went undefeated the previous three seasons over opening weekend.
AMONG THE ACTIVE LEADERS
Fifth year senior Alycia Flores ranks 32nd in NCAA Division I among active players with 124 RBI. Her 196 games played is 16th most and 37 doubles is 32nd. Stevie Hansen has moved into the Top 50 active leader in career victories, coming in 34th with 40. Sophia Ramuno's 372 career strikeouts ranks 37th in NCAA Division I.
NO-NO
Senior pitcher Stevie Hansen threw the 51st no-hitter in program history against UC Riverside at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Feb. 20. It was the second no-hitter of Hansen's career - her first came against Utah Valley in 2023 when she was at Oregon. The lone base runner in the game came in the first inning, reaching on an error.
DAWGS WORLDWIDE
This summer, freshman Morgan Reimer played for the Canadian Junior National Team at the U-18 Softball World Cup Group Stage, helping the team qualify for the 2025 World Cup. During the event, Reimer posted a 0.00 ERA with a 2-0 record over 14.2 innings. She struck out 29 batters and threw a perfect game against Australia. Additional this past summer, head coach Heather Tarr and former Husky Sis Bates led Team USA to a silver medal at the WBSC World Cup Finals. Taran Alvelo joined Team Puerto Rico for the World Cup. Baylee Klingler represented Team USA in the Japan All-Star Series. Representing Team Mexico this summer were Lindsay Lopez and Jillian Celis at the Canada Cup.

Assistant coach Brad Kilpatrick has been named to the roster for the 2025 WBSC Men's World Cup Finals held from July 8-13 in Prince Albert, Canada.
TOUGH SCHEDULE
Washington has a tough schedule ahead with eight teams ranked on receiving votes in the preseason NFCA poll. The Huskies opened the season with four of their first five games against a ranked team in then-No. 11 Alabama and then-No. 16 Arizona. The Week 4 NFCA poll sees five opponents in the poll in No. 6 UCLA, No. 9 Arizona, No. 12 Oregon, No. 20 Nebraska and No. 22 Alabama. Additionally, Grand Canyon, Cal, Boise State and Idaho State are receiving votes.
ROAD DAWGS
The Huskies will open the first five weeks of the season in the road beginning at the Candrea Classic (Feb. 7-9). Washington will then head back down to The Grand Canyon State for the Littlewood Classic (Feb. 14-16). The Dawgs will continue their road swing with a 12-day trip beginning at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (Feb. 20-23) then traveling to Northridge for the first mid-week contest of the season versus CSUN on Feb. 24. UW will then head over to Hawaii for the OUTRIGGER Invitational (Feb. 26- March 1). The final tournament of the season will come at the Black and Orange Classic in Pocatello, Idaho (March 8-10). In total the Dawgs will travel almost 11,200 miles over the first five weeks. Washington will make their first appearance at Husky Softball Stadium for the Big Ten opener against Oregon, March 14-16.

The all-time winningest coach in Washington Athletics history, Heather Tarr eclipsed 800 career wins last season. Her career .723 winning percentage ranks 11th among active Division I softball head coaches with a minimum five years as a head coach. Her 835 wins are 24th most among active coaches. Last weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational, the Bengals came away with a 4-1 record with a victory over No. 13 Texas Tech (3-2) and lost a close contest against the fifth-ranked Aggies (1-4). Camryn McDonald leads the team with a .404 batting average with 21 hits, one double, one triple and a home run. Ava Brown leads the team with seven homers and 19 RBI. Brown's home run total ranks 23rd in the NCAA this season. As a pitching staff, the Bengals hold a 3.28 ERA with Kasey Aguinaga leading the way with a 2.33 ERA. She holds a 7-1 record over 27.0 innings with 12 strikeouts. Megan Meracle leads the team with 28 strikeouts over 27.0 innings. Lizzy Tommasini has a pair of saves, 10th in the NCAA.
ALL-TIME VS. IDAHO STATE
Washington is 4-0 all-time versus Idaho State. The last meeting between the two programs came during the 2019 season at the Husky Classic.
SCOUTING MONTANA
Montana enters the Black and Orange Classic with a 5-15 record. Last weekend at the CSUN Champions Classic, the Grizzlies won a pair of games over Fairleigh Dickinson. Presley Jantzi leads the team with a .367 batting average with 22 hits, five double, two triples and a pair of home runs to go with 12 RBI. Hannah Jablonski has started in 15 games with five doubles and 12 RBI. Anna Cockhill leads the team with 12 stolen bases which ranks 26th in the nation.
ALL-TIME VS. MONTANA
Washington and Montana have met twice previously with the Huskies taking both games. The last time the teams faced each other was in 2017 in the Seattle Regional.
SCOUTING UTAH
Utah enters the weekend with an overall record of 6-15. Last weekend at the Judi Garman Classic, the Utes came away with a 2-3 record with a win over No. 23 San Diego State and Cal State Fullerton. Reese Lee leads the team with a .333 average. Three Utes have double-digit RBI in Kaylah Nelson (13), Hailey Deter (10) and Shonty Passi (10). Nelson is one of the toughest to strikeout in the nation with only two on the season in 76 at bats.

SCOUTING BOISE STATE
Boise State enters the weekend with an overall record of 15-5. Last weekend at the Birds Up Bash, the Broncos 3-2 with a pair of wins over Le Moyne and a victory over UTSA. As a team, Boise State has the eighth-best batting average in the NCAA at .376. The Broncos are first in scoring, averaging 9.50 runs per game and third in RBI (177). Their 213 hits are third-most in the NCAA. Sophia Knight leads the nation with her .575 batting average and 46 hits. Knight is one of the toughest to strikeout in the nation with three in 80 at bats. Makenzie Butt has nine home runs, seventh-most in the nation, and 33 RBI is fifth-best in Division I.
ALL-TIME VS. BOISE STATE
Washington is 6-0 all-time versus Boise State. The teams have met in each of the two previous seasons at the Grand Canyon Classic (2023) and last year in Boise.
