March 29, 2025 | Track & Field
AUSTIN, Texas -- Husky All-American pole vaulters Scott Toney and Mathis Bresko took to the skies at the Texas Relays this afternoon to wrap up UW's first weekend of outdoor competition.
Washington had four athletes in Texas to set the tone; Toney and Bresko, along with hurdlers Anna Terrell and Bodi Ligons, both of whom ran PRs on Friday.
Toney took second in the University Elite section with a clearance of 18-2 1/2. That puts him 5th in the Husky outdoor top-10 list. Toney is coming off a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships and a Big Ten Indoors title.
Bresko competed in a Husky singlet for the first time since the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships. Injury caused him to miss the 2024 outdoor season. He returned to action today with a clearance of 17-6 1/2.
A full Husky squad is set to go to work next week at the Stanford Invitational.
