SEATTLE - The Huskies took down No. 30 USC today in a 4-2 win on the road.
The Huskies came out strong in the doubles round taking two out of the three matches. Cesar Bouchelgham and Dzianis Zharyn took their match 7-5. Rohan Belday and Brett Pearson won theirs in a tie-break with a score of 7-6 (6). Taking the doubles round gave the Dawgs a one point advantage headed into the singles round.
With three singles wins needed for a Huskies victory, Soham Purohit took the first win of the night for Washington, beating Volodomyr Lakubenko 6-4, 6-4. Cesar Bouchelaghem showed out, taking down No. 30 Peter Makk in a two set match ending 6-4, 7-6 (3).
Ivan Sodan and Rohan Belday lost their matches, 3-6, 4-6 and 3-6, 6-7 (0), respectively. This meant that the Huskies still needed one more win to clinch the match. Dzianis Zharyn stepped up to the plate, winning in his third set against No. 108 Nathan Trouve. The match ended in a final score of 4-2.
Next up, the Dawgs will take on No. 41 UCLA on Sunday at 12:00pm.
