
Lu Invitational Co-Champion, Huskies Finish First At Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

LAHAINA, Maui – The Washington women's golf team secured a dominant victory at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, finishing first with an impressive -19 performance.
Vivian Lu led the Huskies with a stellar showing, claiming a piece of the individual championship title with a tournament total of -11 after carding a two-under-72 in the final round. This marks her lowest total tournament score of the season at 205.
"Happy for Viv. She is so talented and has been close a couple of times so it is fun to see her finally get the 'W'," said head coach Mary Lou Mulfur, "She made about a 6 footer for birdie on her last hole knowing she needed to make it.
Athena Ni wrapped up the tournament in ninth place, finishing three-under overall after posting a one-over round on the final day. Wendy Tang followed in 18th at one-under-par, while Amber Li rounded out the team lineup in 21st at even par, with a one-under performance in round three.
Among Washington's individual competitors, Jamie Hsieh and Carmen Lim tied for 25th at one-over-par, with Lim carding a four-over in round three, while Hsieh finished at one-over to finish up round three. Jenny Chang followed in 34th with a three-over after a one-over final round, and Maddie Smith placed 40th with four-over. Kennedy Knox climbed up the ranks, capping off her performance in 46th place at six-over, carding a hole-in-one on the 17th hole being only 1 of two players to accomplish this during the tournament.
The Huskies recorded a final-round team total of 287 scoring first in the invitational. Sacramento State (-8) finished in second place, with Oregon State (-7) followed by Denver (-2) rounding out the top four.
"Super proud of the entire team today. Everyone chipped in today and all week, really." Said Mary Lou, "They have been working extremely hard and it finally paid off. They have been patient and process oriented which we absolutely love."
The Huskies will look to carry their momentum into their next tournament the Silverado Showdown in Napa on April 7th.
