
Dawgs Take Down No. 54 Oregon In Rivalry Matchup

SEATTLE – The Dawgs took down their west coast foes today in a 4-1 victory on the road. Heading into the match, The Ducks were ranked at No. 54 and the Huskies were at No. 53.
The closely ranked teams battled it out starting with a tough fought doubles round. Wins from Washington's Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn as well as Nedim Suko and Soham Purohit secured the doubles point for the Dawgs.
They headed into singles with a 1-0 lead, needing three out the six singles matches to take the win. No. 111 Zharyn won his match first, taking it 6-3, 6-4 over No. 88 Vlad Breazu. Ivan Sodan also won his match, battling back after a first set loss to ultimately win 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 over Matthew Burton. Bouchelaghem clinched the win for the Dawgs in a tight match with #99 Lenn Luemkemann, taking it 6-3, 7-5.
This marks the second win in Big Ten play for the Dawgs giving them a 2-3 record in conference match ups.
Next up, the Dawgs are back on the road to take on USC next Friday and UCLA on Sunday.
