February 04, 2025 | Women's Basketball
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Washington women's basketball team (13-9, 4-6 Big Ten) will look for its first ever win over Penn State Wednesday, as the Huskies take on the Nittany Lions inside the Bryce Jordan Center.
The game will be available of B1G+ at 3 p.m. PT, with Thomas English (play-by-play) and Maren Walseth (analyst) on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.
Wednesday will be the fourth ever matchup between these two teams and the first since 1996. The Huskies are 0-3 against the Nittany Lions with one of those matchups at home, one away, and the first ever matchup taking place at a neutral site in 1986.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies are looking to snap a three-game skid and split the road trip as Washington fell to No. 8 Ohio State on Sunday.
Hannah Stines delivered a team-high 17 points, including her 700th career point, on 8-of-14 shooting.
Dalayah Daniels notched 13 points, seven boards, four assists, and four blocks. The fifth-year forward recorded her 1,000th point in a Husky uniform against the Buckeyes, as she now sits at 1,371 points in her five-year collegiate career.
SCOUTING REPORT
Penn State (15th in B1G) and Washington (13th in B1G) have faced each other three times, with Wednesday's matchup in University Park the first time the two have faced off since 1996.
The Nittany Lions are led by sixth year head coach Carolyn Kieger, who has guided Penn State to a 10-12 record. Penn State is 1-10 in league play, with its sole conference victory being an upset of No. 8 Ohio State at home.
Penn State is also on a three-game losing streak, falling to No. 14 Maryland and Rutgers at home, as well as No. 21 Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich.
