Huskies Set To Kick Off 2025 Beach Volleyball Season In Tampa
February 20, 2025 | Beach Volleyball
SEATTLE – Coming off its first NCAA tournament appearance in program history, No. 14 Washington beach volleyball looks to keep the momentum going as the 2025 season opens at the Spartan Showdown in Tampa, Florida from February 21-22.
The Huskies will begin the tournament Friday, Feb. 21, against No. 16 Florida Atlantic at 8 a.m. PT before facing host Tampa at 2 p.m. PT. On Saturday, Washington will take on No. 13 Georgia State at 5 a.m. PT, followed by No. 17 Florida International at 9 a.m. PT to close out the weekend.
The 2025 roster features a mix of new and returning talent as the Huskies look to build on last season's historic NCAA tournament run. Washington recorded a program-high 20 wins during the 2024 season. The Huskies return seven players from last year's team and welcome three freshmen and five transfers.
Head coach Derek Olson enters his fourth year leading Washington and is excited about this season's squad.
"I'm really excited to watch this team compete and grow throughout the season," Olson said. "This team has been nothing short of amazing in their approach to training, and I feel really good about the progress we've made. We have a lot of new faces, so it's hard to gauge exactly where we're at, but I'm having a lot of fun working with these athletes."
The Dawgs will face 11 opponents this season who were ranked in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Preseason Poll. The full rankings are below:
