Washington Opens MPSF Championship Against Oregon In Huntington Beach
April 21, 2026 | Beach Volleyball
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — The No. 19 University of Washington beach volleyball team will open play at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Beach Volleyball Championship against No. 9 seed Oregon at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22. Entering the tournament as the No. 8 seed, the Huskies face a pivotal opening matchup in what is expected to be a tightly contested meeting between two familiar opponents.
If Washington defeats Oregon, the Huskies will advance to face No. 1 seed Stanford later that same day at 1:00 p.m., remaining on the winner's side of the bracket with a chance to move deeper into the championship rounds. Should Washington win both matches on Wednesday, the Huskies would advance to Thursday's quarterfinal round, playing in the late morning with an opportunity to secure a spot in the semifinals. If they split the day with a win over Oregon and a loss to Stanford, Washington would drop into the elimination bracket and return Thursday morning, needing to win to keep its postseason run alive.
If Washington falls to Oregon in the opening match, the Huskies would enter the elimination bracket immediately and play Thursday morning in a must-win matchup. From there, Washington would need to string together multiple wins throughout the day, potentially competing more than once on Thursday, to continue advancing. Regardless of the path, Thursday becomes a critical day, as teams must continue winning to stay in contention and push toward the final rounds.
All matches will stream live on B1G+, with digital coverage available via the @B1GVolleyball accounts on X, Instagram, Bluesky and YouTube. The Big Ten Network will televise all three matches Friday, including both semifinals and the championship dual. BTN coverage will also be available via the FOX Sports app. The MPSF Championship Central Page can be found HERE.
