Washington Defeated By Rutgers In Overtime 89-85

SEATTLE – 20-point games from Mekhi Mason and Vazoumana Diallo led Washington but the Huskies ultimately fell to Rutgers in overtime 89-85 Wednesday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Neither team led by more than six the entire game as the teams exchanged blows in front of a crowd of 8,036 fans.
Great Osobor scored a turnaround jumper with 36 seconds left to give the Dawgs an 81-80 lead.
On the ensuing possession, the Huskies doubled Dylan Harper and Tyree Ihenacho forced a turnover with a deflection and dove to keep the ball inbounds, igniting the Husky faithful.
The Scarlet Knights came up with a key steal on an inbounds and made 1 of 2 free throws to tie it up and force overtime.
Rutgers drew first blood in the extra period and never relinquished the lead as both teams struggled from the field.
Washington (13-13, 4-10) shot 52 percent in the game and 47 percent (8 of 17) from three-point range.
Mason made 4 of 7 threes for his second consecutive 20-point game.
Diallo had a game-high 5 assists to go with 5 rebounds and a career-high 20 points. Osobor and Tyler Harris scored 17 apiece.
Wednesday's meeting was the first between the two programs.
Washington visits Iowa Sunday. The game tips off at 1:00 p.m. PST on FS1.
