Three Doubles Squads Advance To ITA Sectional Semifinals

SEATTLE – All three Husky doubles teams earned victories on Friday at the ITA Sectional Championships inside Nordstrom Tennis Center, each earning a spot in the semifinals on Saturday.

Erika Matsuda/Carina Syrtveit, Marie Weissheim/Alexia Jacobs, and Jermine Sherif/Reece Carter all will have a chance to qualify for NCAAs in Orlando, Fla. with doubles wins tomorrow.
Weissheim/Jacobs and Sherif/Carter will play against each other in doubles semifinal play, guaranteeing a Husky pair a spot in the NCAA tournament.
On the singles side, Carter battled USC's Imogen Haddad in a three-set fight that came down to a 7-5 tiebreaker.
She will face Stanford's Caroline Driscoll in the singles quarterfinals and, with a win, earn a trip to NCAAs.
Matsuda also earned a spot in singles play on Saturday as the last match of the afternoon, defeating WSU's Maxine Murphy in three sets. After going down 2-6 in the first, the senior bounced back with a 6-2 and 6-0 decider to clinch a quarterfinal spot.
