
Washington Men On Their Way To 60th Head Of The Charles Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Washington men's rowing team will compete this Sunday at the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta, the premier fall rowing event of the year.
Washington will enter crews in the men's championship four and eights. Washington will also have entries in the men's and women's alumni races on Saturday, and an additional men's alumni crew will race as the Varsity Boat Club in the men's championship eights race.

Saturday, Oct. 18
10:56 a.m. ET / 7: 56 a.m. PT – Men's Alumni 8+ (48 entries) – Washington Men's Alumni 8+
11:15 a.m. ET / 8:15 a.m. PT – Women's Alumnae 8+ (52 entries) – Washington Alumnae W8+
2:23 p.m. ET / 11:23 a.m. PT – Men's Championship Singles (23 entries) – Logan Ullrich '25 (Varsity Boat Club)
Sunday, Oct. 19
1:05 p.m. ET / 10:05 a.m. PT – Men's Championship 4+ (12 entries) – Washington V4+
3:20 p.m. ET / 12:20 p.m. PT – Men's Championship 8+ (30 entries) – Washington V8+, and Varsity Boat Club 8+
The Head of the Charles is a three-day regatta held on the Charles River in Boston. It's the largest three-day regatta in the world. The time-trial races are run over a three-mile course that begins at Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse and ends just after the Eliot Bridge and just before Northeastern University's Henderson Boathouse. The race course runs under six bridges that span the Charles from Boston to Cambridge.
Washington will also be represented by a number of alumni competing in various race categories for various clubs. Logan Ullrich' 25, a 2024 Olympic silver medalist who won the IRCA "Oarsman Award" as the nation's top male heavyweight rower last season, will race under the Varsity Boat Club in the men's championship singles, Saturday at 2:23 p.m. ET, while 2025 World Championship gold medal winner Teal Cohen '21 will compete in the women's championship singles, for the New York Athletic Club, at 2:42 p.m. ET on Saturday.
At least two UW women's team alumnae will participate in the women's championship doubles (2:12 p.m. ET on Saturday): a double of Evan Park '25 and Marilou Duvernay-Tardif '25 will compete on an unaffiliated basis, while 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Tabea Schendekehl '20 will race for RC Hansa Dortmund / Brandenburg.
Certainly, other UW alumni will also appear in other events among the 74 race categories as well, but not all entries have been filed.

Washington Rowing will host any family, fans and alumni attending the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 19, The UW tent is located just south of the Eliot Bridge, on the east side of the Charles River. Scroll down to the map at the bottom of this page for specific location.
National Rowing Foundation Hall of Fame Class of 2025
Saturday at the Head of the Charles, the National Rowing Foundation will induct its newest class for its Hall of Fame, and that group includes three individuals with UW ties. UW alumna Mary Whipple '02, who coxed the UW varsity eight to two NCAA Championships before going on to earn three Olympic medals (including two gold) for the United States, is being inducted "For Outstanding Achievement." UW men's team alum Al Forney '82, has earned his place in the Hall of Fame along with the rest of his U.S. men's four, which won the silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games. Finally, the 1995 U.S. women's eight, which won the World Championship, is being inducted. That crew was coxed by 10th year UW women's head coach Yasmin Farooq. The ceremony will take at the NRF US Team Reunion Tent at Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
