
Gymnastics Takes On First B1G Road Meet

SEATTLE – The Washington gymnastics team will travel to Piscataway, N.J., to face Big Ten rival Rutgers in search of its first Big Ten Conference victory. The Huskies and Scarlet Knights will meet for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. PT.
The meet will stream on B1G+, Eddie Kalegi and Chrystal Chollet-Norton will be on the call. Live scoring will be available here.
Washington is coming off its season-opening performance at the UW Quad Meet, where the Huskies placed third behind Stanford and Boise State, with UC Davis finishing fourth.
The Huskies debuted 11 new routines at the meet. Freshman Lex Mouyenga made her collegiate debut on vault and bars, while junior Caitlin McWilliams competed in both events for the first time. Sophomore Kira Bolden returned from injury to perform on vault and floor. Senior Lana Navarro competed on bars for the first time in her collegiate career, and junior Olivia Oppegard made her debut on beam and floor. Sophomore Mary McDonough competed in the all-around for the first time.
Senior Emily Innes led the Huskies with a co-champion performance on floor, earning a 9.925. She also is tied for the No. 1 floor ranking and tied for the No. 2 beam ranking in the Big Ten after scoring a 9.875 on beam.
This is the first of four consecutive Big Ten matchups for Washington, giving the GymDawgs opportunities to build momentum in their inaugural season in the conference.
