Men Lead NCAA In USTFCCCA Academic Honors
July 15, 2024 | Track & Field
SEATTLE β Thirty-six Huskies were honored for their academic and athletic prowess today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, with the UW men's team leading all NCAA squads with 21 individual All-Academic accolades.
Β
The USTFCCCA also awarded All-Academic Team status to both the Husky men's and women's squads. The women currently maintain a 3.53 cumulative GPA while the men own a 3.47 cumulative GPA. All-Academic Team status requires a team GPA above a 3.0.
Β
To earn individual All-Academic status, student-athletes must own a cumulative GPA of a 3.25 or better, along with meeting a standard of athletic achievement in one of two ways. Indoors, athletes must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event. Outdoors, athletes must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West.
Β
With 21 honorees on the men's side, Washington led all teams. The women had 15 individual All-Academic honors, tying for ninth-most overall.
