Huskies Run-Rule Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. β No. 9 Washington capped off the series at No. 6 Stanford with a 8-0 run-rule victory over the Cardinal on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies finished the regular season with a record of 37-11 and 16-8 in Pac-12 play.

Lindsay Lopez pitched a gem for her 11th win, allowing only the leadoff hitter in the first to record the only hit of the game. Lopez tossed her first complete game of the season and tied a season-high with five strikeouts.

With two runners on, Kelley Lynch sent her third home run of the season over the center field wall in the third for a 3-0 lead.

Washington added a four run in the fifth after Madison Huskey ledoff the inning with a walk and Lynch followed with a single. With one out, Megan Vandegrift had a bunt single to load the bases for SilentRain Espinoza who drove in Huskey on an RBI groundout. Rylee Holtorf drove in a run on a single through the left side. Baylee Klingler drove in the third run of the inning on an infield single and Sami Reynolds made it a seven-run game.

Lynch had her fourth hit of the contest in the sixth and pinch runner Avery Hobson came in. Hobson was able to steal second and third with one out. Vandegrift put the run rule into effect on an RBI groundout.

The Huskies will begin its quest for the Pac-12 Tournament Championship in the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament held in Tucson. Washington will play on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. PT as the No. 2 in the tournament and will face the seventh-seeded Oregon State Beavers. Follow along for the latest tournament information here.
