Washington Shuts Out Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 9 Washington evened the series with No. 6 Stanford after a 1-0 victory on Saturday night at Smith Family Stadium.
Kelley Lynch got the start for the Huskies and tossed four innings with two hits allowed and four strikeouts to pick up her ninth win of the season. Ruby Meylan came in and threw 2.1 frames in relief while striking out three. Lindsay Lopez got the save, her third of the season, after facing the final two batters.
The Huskies broke the scoreless game in the top of the fifth as Olivia Johnson led off the inning with a single up the middle. Brooklyn Carter came in to pinch run and Baylee Klingler brought her around with her 12th double of the season to give Washington a 1-0 lead.
Meylan and Lopez were able to retire nine of the 11 final batters to secure the Huskies' 36th win of the season and improve to 15-8 in conference action.
The Huskies and Cardinal conclude the regular season on Sunday after with a 1 p.m. first pitch. The game will air on Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Bay Area.
POSTGAME NOTES
- It was only the third time this season that Stanford has been shutout. The other two were against UCLA.
- With the save, Lindsay Lopez moves into a tie for sixth in program history with three in a single season.
