SEATTLE β Building an early cushion and riding it, Washington (20-10, 7-6 Pac-12) bounced back with a ranked win on Friday, taking down No. 22 Arizona State 8-3 at Husky Ballpark.

Stu Flesland III was electric on the mound, matching his career long outing with seven strong. The lefty got the win after striking out nine on the night, surrendering three runs. Fellow left-hander Sam Boyle finished the final two innings.

After taking a first inning lead on a wild pitch, Washington stretched things out in the second with four runs.

Cam Clayton got things started with a sharp RBI single to left, with Johnny Tincher following with one of his own to bring in another run. Clayton then scored on another wild pitch, and Tincher came around soon after, stealing third and scoring when the throw sailed into the outfield.

The Huskies scored without registering a hit in the third, taking advantage of a pair of walks, three wild pitches and a passed ball to make it 6-0.

Two more unearned runs came home for U Dub in the fourth as a dropped fly in left-center allowed Clayton to cross and AJ Guerrero followed with an RBI single to left.

The Sun Devils clawed back three runs on home runs in the fifth and sixth innings but it wasn't nearly enough as the Huskies took game one of the weekend set.
