Huskies Fall at Stanford 81-69
February 26, 2023 | Men's Basketball
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) – Down 8-0 at the start, Washington (16-14, 8-11 Pac-12) could not secure a lead and ultimately fell to Stanford 81-69 Sunday to snap a three-game winning streak.
The Huskies and Cardinal split the 2022-23 series.
Langston Wilson's dunk with about three minutes left in the first half trimmed the Huskies deficit to 27-24 but Stanford led by twelve at halftime. Keion Brooks Jr. was in double figures at the break and Jamal Bey had seven points and five rebounds.
Bey hit a three-pointer before Braxton Meah added a basket in the paint and then threw down a dunk to trim Washington's deficit to five points with 15:37 to play. The Cardinal continued to answer and built a double-digit lead for good.
Stanford shot 49% from the field and made 12 of 24 from behind the arc.
"We knew we had to defend the three-point line and we didn't do a good job of that," said Head Coach Mike Hopkins. "We have to go out and execute."
Bey led Washington with 21 points and eight rebounds and Keion Brooks Jr. added 17 points, going 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Bey led the team in scoring for the second time in three games and became the third different Husky to eclipse 20 points in the past four games.
The Huskies head home for their regular-season finale Thursday against rival Washington State in the Boeing Apple Cup Series.
