SEATTLE – Spooky season, sweater season, pumpkin season, "Huskies back with tournament play in the Nordstrom season." Call it what you want, but the time is here. Washington is back in action at home this Friday through Sunday, Oct. 6-8, hosting ITA Northwest Regionals at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Admission is free for all spectators and matches will begin at 9 a.m. all three days.
The tournament serves as a qualifier into the next stage of regionals, the ITA Super Regionals, which Stanford will host from Oct. 20-23. Winners there will earn a spot at the ITA National Fall Championships. The tournament will not be played to conclusion, as four singles semifinalists and the two doubles finalists will move on to Stanford and will not play out the singles semis/doubles final.
Competing against the Huskies will be players from Oregon, Gonzaga, Portland, Portland State, Eastern Washington, and Seattle U.
Taking up racquets this week for the Huskies will be seniors Jim Hendrikx and Heman Nama, junior Nedim Suko, and sophomore Brett Pearson.
