PALO ALTO, Calif. – Kelsey Branson gave the Huskies an early lead and Olivia Juarez posted a career-high 12 saves as Washington earned a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

The draw snaps a 19-match losing streak for the Huskies against Stanford, dating back to a 1-0 UW overtime win in Seattle in 2004.

Coming up in the clutch time after time on the night, Juarez's 12 saves is good for a tie for the seventh most in a single match in program history.

The Huskies got off to a flying start, taking the lead through Branson's smash in the sixth minute. The play started on Jace Holmes left peg, with Ioanna Papatheodorou chesting it before lofting the ball over the top to Branson, who's lethal strike bulged the net.

From there, it was a ferocious effort to hold the Cardinal at bay for the rest of the half.

The Cardinal found themselves with a golden chance to equalize in the 31^st minute when a handball was called inside the 18, resulting in a penalty. However, Maya Doms' attempt clanged off the crossbar and the Huskies were able to clear.

The Dawgs were able to kill off the rest of the half but Stanford got its equalizer in the 48^th minute as Allie Montoya cleaned up a loose ball inside the six to even the score.

However, the Huskies responded in kind, emptying the tank on the defensive end to fend off attack after attack from the Cardinal.

The woodwork once again came to the Dawgs' aid in the 80^th as Doms once again struck the crossbar, this time on a shot from the top of the 18.

While the Cardinal continued to throw numbers forward, Juarez and the Huskies had an answer each time, locking down their defensive goal area to secure a massive road point in the Pac-12 table.
