Koren Johnson Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week
January 16, 2023 | Men's Basketball
SEATTLE – Following a two-win homestand, Koren Johnson has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
Johnson helped Washington to a win over Stanford on Thursday with a career-high 15 points, which he then matched in Saturday's overtime win over Cal.
The tenacious guard recorded three steals in each game, which is also a new career best. Johnson shot a blistering 70% (7-10) from three-point range and 56% (9-16) from the floor in the two games combined. He saw more than 24 minutes of action of the bench in both contests.
This is his first Pac-12 honor. He is the first Husky to be named Freshman of the Week since Jaden McDaniels in March of 2020.
The Huskies hit the road this week for matchups at Colorado (Thursday, 6:00 p.m. PT) and at Utah (Saturday, 5:00 p.m. PT).
