
Washington Hosts UC Irvine Thursday on Montlake

SEATTLE -- The Washington women's basketball team (2-0) continues its non-conference homestand with a matchup vs. UC Irvine (2-0) at Alaska Airlines Arena on Thursday, Nov. 17. This will be the third meeting all-time between the programs. The game tips off Thursday at 5 p.m. PT and will be aired on Pac-12 Washington with Elise Woodward and Stephanie Hawk Freeman on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.
Last Time Out
Last week, Washington opened the season with an 87-74 win over Utah Tech on November 7. Every Husky on the floor scored, and four Huskies scored in double digits (Trinity Oliver, 18; Haley Van Dyke, 15; Emma Grothaus, 14; Lauren Schwartz, 12). Oliver's 18 points was a career high. Four newcomers made their Washington debut (Dalayah Daniels, Hannah Stines, Grothaus, Elle Ladine). The Huskies followed that up with an 82-60 win over UC Davis on November 11. Dalayah Daniels was the leading scorer with 16 points, and Haley Van Dyke was the other Husky in double digit scoring with 14 points. Washington returns eight Huskies from last season with Lauren Schwartz, Jayda Noble, Haley Van Dyke, Nia Lowery, TT Watkins, Trinity Oliver, Lexi Griggsby, and Darcy Rees. Fans will see six new faces on the team this season, as the Huskies welcomed four freshmen from California - Hannah Stines, Teagan Brown, Shayla Gillmer, and Elle Ladine - and two transfers, Dalayah Daniels (Cal) and Emma Grothaus (Lehigh).
Preseason Nods
Van Dyke earned Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, and Grothaus was one of 20 players named to the 2023 Lisa Lisa Award Watch List.
