UW Hosts Portland Amid Schedule Changes
January 31, 2022 | Women's Tennis
SEATTLE -- The Huskies will remain home this weekend rather than travel to Texas, and a home match against Portland, originally scheduled for March, has been moved up to this Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Washington's road matches at Rice and Baylor have been canceled. The Huskies will now host the Pilots this week and then next week the team will head for Wisconsin and compete in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships for the first time since 2019 and the first time away from Seattle since 2011. Opening matches will take place on Feb. 11.
The Huskies earned the trip to Wisconsin by winning consecutive 4-3 matches over Denver and fourth-ranked UCLA last Friday and Saturday in Los Angeles. It was UW's first win over the Bruins since 2003 and first road win ever.
