Huskies Drop Road Contest Against Ducks
January 23, 2022 | Men's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. -- The Washington men's basketball team wrapped up its Oregon road trip on Sunday night in Eugene, falling to the Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena.
Oregon got out to a quick start and never looked back, using a pair of double-digit scoring runs to build a big lead in the first half. After 20 minutes, the Ducks held a 35-point advantage.
The Huskies faced an uphill climb in the second half, and while they were able to cut into the deficit, it was ultimately too large to overcome.
With 12:11 remaining, Cole Bajema would kickstart an 8-0 run for UW to bring the team within 25.
Riley Sorn gave the Huskies a strong effort off the bench, as he scored 6 points, while grabbing three rebounds (all offensive). Sorn was a dominant presence in the paint on defense, blocking five shots in just eight minutes of play.
As a team, Washington collected 18 offensive rebounds, its most since grabbing 27 in the season opener. The 37 total rebounds by the Huskies were the most in a Pac-12 game this season their highest total since Dec. 18 against Seattle U.
With 14 points, Terrell Brown Jr. continued his streak of scoring in double figures in every game this season.
Washington is back in action on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. when it hosts Colorado at Alaska Airlines Arena.
